Did y'all see the article in the LA Times by an avid reader who confesses how hard it is to simply sit and read these days? Might be good fodder for discussion with students.
This is sad but true. It's a paradox: I've never had more formal education, but I read for pleasure less and less. I used to read a novel in two days, now it takes me a month. I tried to read yesterday, and all I could think was, "I can't wait until Mad Men is on tonight."
